Jo Ann Reinhard Cermin Memorial Butterfly Garden

The new Butterfly Garden built in 2025 honors the life of Jo Ann Reinhard Cermin, an avid gardener and nature lover. This 18-month project was driven by her husband’s vision Dr. Ayres Cermin and the hard work of many volunteers. Each element of the garden reflects Jo Ann’s passion for nature’s beauty.

Special thanks to High Plains Underground Water Conservation District for the grant that, in partnership with the generous donation from Dr. Ayres and his family, funded the rainwater collection system, that promotes & demonstrates rainwater conservation in our community.

Together, we not only planted and nurtured this garden but wove Jo Ann’s legacy into the very fabric of the garden to be enjoyed by others. The garden will continue to evolve & grow as the seasons come upon us. Whether you’re capturing family memories, special moments, or simply enjoying a quiet afternoon. It brings us joy to see the garden fulfilling its purpose: to be a space of peace, beauty, love and community

To the Cermin Family:

The Jo Ann Reinhard Cermin Memorial Butterfly Garden—a space filled with beauty, reflection, and love. Thank you for allowing the Lubbock Master Gardeners Association to help bring this vision to life. From planning to planting, it has been a labor of love, and we are proud to be the caretakers of a garden that honors Jo Ann’s legacy. We are honored that the Cermin family entrusted us with this special task.
